Two West End transfers to catch while you can

London's theatre scene is so fast-moving that often, by the time you've decided to go and see a buzzy new drama, it has already sold out or is about to close. But occasionally West End transfers give us a second chance to see a show that everyone was raving about. This week the Almeida's 2016 hit Mary Stuart comes to Duke of York's Theatre and the National Theatre's zeitgeisty romance Beginning begins a short run at the Ambassadors Theatre.

Mary Stuart, Duke of York's Theatre

After glowing reviews at the Almeida in winter 2016, Robert Icke's production of Mary Stuart transfers to Duke of York's Theatre. Once again, Juliet Stevenson and Lia Williams will take it in turns to play rival queens Elizabeth and Mary. The roles will be determined by a toss a coin ahead of each show.
