Where to see the Christmas lights being switched on: London 2019
The streets of London are starting to twinkle once more. Few things signal the start of the festive season like seeing the Christmas lights being switched on. We round up the ‘three, two, one’ moments to catch this year.
The mother of all Christmas light displays in London can still be found on Oxford Street. 2019 marks 60 years of Oxford Street’s Christmas lights, but rather than celebrating with a display that’s bigger and better than that of previous years, the team behind it hope to effect positive change with their latest installment: not only do the 27 LED light curtains display dynamic content, they’re designed to provide energy savings of up to 90% against traditional lighting. Not bad.
Entertainment on the night includes live performances from rapper Ms Banks and singer-songwriter Joy Crookes, and DJ sets from Capital XTRA presenters Yinka and Shayna Marie. The switch on is taking place on 21 November.
