DIY party games for everyone
Let's get this party started with a few of our favourite family party games!
Don't switch on the television just yet – with more and more people opting to switch off and disconnect for the holidays, we suspect we'll all need some good old fashioned fun come Christmas day.
We all know Charades and Snap, but why not try some of these other great alternative party games? Some need cunning and wit, whilst others only require some pens and paper or just a single sock. Best of all, their all free (though some might cost you your dignity...)
Not a Monopoly meltdown in sight.
What is it? Guess your friend's alter egos and see who can create the biggest 'empire'.
Best for: A group of over 10 people who think they know each other really well.
You will need: One person to be the namekeeper, with a pen and paper
How to play:
1) Whoever is in charge steps outside the room to be namekeeper. Everyone else has to come up with a celebrity to be their alter ego.
2) Take it in turns to go into the next room and submit an alter ego to the namekeeper. Be anyone! Henry VIII, Donald Trump, Moana, Tilda Swinton...
3) The namekeeper reads out the list of characters to the group.
4) Take it in turns to interrogate someone else in the room. For example, if you go first, you might ask: "Dad, are you Moana?" If you guess correctly, and Dad's alter ego is in fact Moana, Dad then joins your 'empire'. You and Dad can then confer and try and guess another family member's alter ego.
5) If you guess incorrectly, and Dad is not Moana, Dad then gets to guess next. Dad might ask: "Grandma, are you Donald Trump?"
6) Once you correctly guess someone's alter ego, they become part of your empire and can help you with your guesses. If someone guesses your alter ego, your empire will be taken over by whoever has guessed your secret identity.
How do I win? By guessing the name of the last person standing.
Top tip: Don't be obvious: if you hate sport, be a sportsman, if you know nothing about politics, now's your chance to pick a politician.
