Based at the popular Shepherd’s Bush location, the K Spa at the K Hotel in London offers excellent treatments, and a sauna, sanarium, hydro-pool and relaxation space. Plus, it also houses London’s first dedicated Snow Paradise Cabin and is basically a Narnia version of spa-ing. A room filled with snow is kept at minus 15 – so if you can’t chill out in here – the only other option is holidaying at the North Pole.

Voted one of the best spa spaces in London. You can alternate your time between the hot and cold zones, and use the ice crystals from the fountain as a rub, to reduce toxins, stimulate circulation and lymphatic drainage.

Apparently Kate Moss, Liv Tyler and Renee Zellweger have all been for a session here. There are plenty of decent treatments and a banya (a Slavic style hot room that’s kept at 60-70% humidity – so less drying than a traditional sauna.) The plunge pool is a chilling 7-10°C. Or you can take on the ice bucket challenge, with oak pails mounted on the wall - just waiting for you to pull the cord. They also serve Russian Standard Vodka, should you need it. Extreme refreshment – but what else would you expect from a Russian spa space?

Cryotherapy in London
It all else fails, head for a cryotherapy chamber:
The Apogii Clinic in Notting Hill has the first medical-grade chamber called the Icelab (think giant freezer) and standing inside for three minutes, at -110°C, half-naked except for the rubber shoes, is said to boost metabolism, release endorphins, stimulate recovery and healing.
After entering the chamber, the sensations of a slight icy breeze, that develops into more of a blizzard, tingles the skin, and provoke jogging on the spot feeling like an extra from Dr Zhivago, minus the furs. Check out the review here.
