Editions Sale 2015, Phillips Auction House

Yayoi Kusama, Picasso & Warhol: catch world-famous artists at Phillips Editions exhibition before they go under the hammer

Francis Bacon, artist, Miroir de la tauromachie (1990), Phillips London
Our favourite London auction house, Phillips, gears up for it's summer Editions Sale with a fantastic exhibition of masterpieces by some of the biggest names on the market, including record-breaking Francis Bacon, Gerhard Richter and Richard Hamilton.
We recommend making a beeline for Pablo Picasso's spectacular portrait of his ex wife François Gilot (1949), a fiery female painter who left the world-famous artist in 1953 after ten years of marriage. You'll also love the King of Pop Art, Andy Warhol's Shadows 1 and Camouflage series of raucous, colourful prints that take us straight back to Studio 54 and the roaring consumerist world of 1960s New York. Over in the Contemporary Section we can't get enough of the two bronzes by Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama, Louis Vuitton's 2012 collaborator who was voted the world's favourite artist in 2014.
This is a rare opportunity to see so many starry names under one roof and of course for those with a flexible bank balance, the Evening Auction takes place 6pm, 11th June. If the Phillips auction results are anything to go by, we recommend first time buyers book a position early and seek advice from Phillips experts.
