Osborne Samuel has specialised in work by the powerhouse British sculptor Henry Moore for over 30 years. Soak up some of that expertise at a major new exhibition of rare drawings, sculptures and prints this summer.
Henry Moore biography
Born in 1898, the son of a Yorkshire miner, Moore became a mainstay of modernist sculpture and inspired a generation of artists. Most renowned for his abstractions of the human figure, and particularly his sculptures of reclining nudes, the Osborne Samuel exhibition presents less familiar pieces. Look out for works from Henry Moore's student days, and lithographs and sketches executed during the long nights in London’s air raid shelters.

Uncommonly personal, the show features works from his sister Betty’s personal collection of sculpture and drawings - one in particular not to miss is the life-sized cement cast of the her infant son’s head. And in a stroke of curatorial brilliance, displayed alongside Moore’s work are photographs taken by Gemma Levine which document the last 12 years of his life in his Hertfordshire studio.
This is an exceptionally intimate glimpse into an astonishingly prolific master of modernist sculpture and should not be missed.
