Chris Stein/Negative: Me, Blondie, and The Advent of Punk, Somerset House

Love the punk era photography of Chris Stein? Blondie and new wave comes to life in this latest Somerset House photography exhibition 2014

Chris Stein/Negative: Me, Blondie, and The Advent of Punk, Somerset House and publication by Rizzoli
If you are a fan of Blondie and Debbie Harry, you’ll love this Somerset House exhibition. Even if you’re not, you’re likely to appreciate the Chris Stein photography of people and places in the punk and new wave scene that first flourished in 1970s downtown New York.
This highlight of photography exhibitions in London hosts previously unpublished Chris Stein photos which paint a fascinating behind the scenes picture of the trailblazing band, from their underground early days playing in the happening Mudd Club and CBGB’s, to their global sell-out shows. In the photography galleries of Somerset House, London you’ll also find other icons of the 70s and 80s, including David Bowie, The Ramones, Iggy Pop, and The Sex Pistols.
Brought beautifully to life are Andy Warhol's ‘Factory’ studio, parties by the pool in the early morning hours at the Beverly Hills Hotel and the early, gritty East Village. It’s a world that may be long gone, but one that still has an effect on music and fashion today. A Chris Stein book of by the same title is also available, along with a limited selection of prints at the exhibition bookshop.
