Veep season 6 on Sky Atlantic

Julia Louis-Dreyfus returns as the narcissistic politician who plays fast and loose with the truth in American sitcom Veep on Sky Atlantic tonight

Veep, season 6, Sky Atlantic
Everyone knows that life imitates art, which makes the arrival of season six of the Sky Atlantic show Veep, a comedy about a morally bankrupt narcissist with presidential ambitions who practically ruins the White House, feel unusually morbid this year.

This season, Emmy Award winner Julia Louis-Dreyfus reprises her role as Selina Meyer, the ex-put upon US vice president who temporarily became president only to lose an election due to utter incompetence.

From the British creator of The Thick Of It, Armando Iannucci, comes this alternative universe, in which Congress broke the voting stalemate and Selina has 'gotten to know herself'.

Although the show will make you cringe, it offers a hilarious and powerful insight into the kind of people who make it in American politics and will no doubt have something fascinating to say in the era of Trump.

Veep airs on Sky Atlantic, Tuesday 18 April 10:10pm
