I Love Dick, Amazon Prime

Based on the best-selling novel of the same name, I Love Dick airs on Amazon Prime this month

I Love Dick, Amazon Prime starring Kevin Bacon
It's the book you want to avoid reading on the tube: I Love Dick, the best-selling 1997 novel by Chris Kraus, has finally been adapted for Amazon Prime in what is likely to be one of the most exciting TV shows airing this May.

Having very little to do with dick, (and everything to do with Dick, the mysterious, charming Kevin Bacon), the show is set the rugged landscape of Texas and follows the story of fortysomething Chris (Kathryn Hahn) whose marriage to history professor Sylvere (Griffin Dunne) lacks any kind of passion. Chris' dreams of writing and making films have wilted and died around her – until Dick arrives, to turn this monotonous couple's world upside-down.

Chris makes the move on what she wants, in a series of letters entitled 'Dear Dick'. Director, Jill Soloway (director of Emmy-award winning Amazon Prime show Transparent) shows that it's the age of the strong leading woman and that is definitely something we can get behind.

Take a sneak peak at the trailer and you will hear the Latin American vibes of the soundtrack. Yes, you heard right – although it might seem out of place, with the looming Midwest backdrop and the brooding glances between the characters, the soundtrack is there to turn the heat up on the storyline's passion.

Amazon continues to produce addictive TV series to rival with Netflix – series that we just can't get enough of – and with a back catalogue of fantastic shows such as The Man in the High Castle, Sneaky Pete and Transparent, we hope I Love Dick will be a welcome addition to the Prime library.

You can watch the pilot episode here now, with the following episodes airing on 12 May for Amazon Prime members.
