February Half Term: London's Toddlers 0-5

Magical Lantern Festival, Chiswick House
19th January - 26th February


Back again for 2017, the Magical Lantern Festival has vast, glittering lanterns that light up the night's sky and the rolling gardens of Chiswick House. Spot a range of brightly coloured animals Noah would be proud of and don't forget to wrap up warm.

Get hands-on with fluffy friends at Bockett's Farm
11th - 19th February
Last year we welcomed in Spring in with a visit to tried and tested favourite, Bockett's Farm, where newborn lambs frolicked around the fields. This year, more baby lambs are due to arrive, there'll be Birds of Prey flying demonstrations and the opportunity to meet miniature Shetland Ponies in the Pony Parlour.

Music and Storytelling, Royal Albert Hall
17th January - 12th April



We loved it last year, and in 2017 it's back again this half-term, tiny tots explore the Royal Albert Hall’s history of music, movement and dance with three expert storytellers.

How to Hide a Lion, Polka Theatre

This charming story tells the tale of a girl trying to hide her best friend, who happens to be a lion. Directed by Peter Glanville and adapted from Helen Stephen's children's story.

The Red Balloon, Puppet Theatre Barge
04 Feb 2017 – 19 Mar 2017



Be enchanted by a musical re-telling of 'The Red Balloon', the story of a young boy and a sentient balloon, performed by marionettes at our favourite floating theatre.

Imagine Children's Festival, Southbank Centre
9th - 19th February



The Imagine Festival at the Southbank Centre is one of our favourite children's activities for half term. With a storytelling workshops, shakespeare for young audiences, film screenings and a baby rave, what more could you possibly want from your half term activity list?

Drop-in Sessions, National Portrait Gallery
19 February 2017, 13:00-14:30



Back once more, the National Portrait Gallery's half term activities are inspired by the colour, shape and form of the contemporary collections. Families will join Anna Hymas for a creative session where you can try out different paints, from oil to acrylic.

Robots, Science Museum
8th February - 3rd September



In February 2017, the Science museum will open its doors to a brand new robots exhibition where kids will find an articulated iron manikin from the 1500s, a giant 1950s Italian robot called Cygan, who we hear has a glamorous past, and one of the first walking robots!

February Half Term: Children aged 9-14

Theatre for Young Audiences, National Theatre



Young audiences are in for a treat with a modern reworking of an age-old love story, as Romeo and Juliet returns to the Dorfman Theatre. New for 2017 is a kid-friendly production of Macbeth and there are also stage fighting workshops for little Montagues and Capulets aged between 7-12.

The Wimbledon New Theatre will welcome the tried and tested Cirque Berserk in half term 2017. This 'real-circus' is a high-energy show with death-defying and mind-boggling stunts.

Macbeth at Half Term, National Theatre



From the team who have treated younger audiences with Romeo and Juliet at half term for the last few years, Shakespeare's story of witchcraft, murder, treason and treachery will be brought to The Dorfman in 2017. Macbeth at The National this February half-term promises to be a bold retelling of the dark and brooding Scottish Play
