Dram & Smoke

The latest pop up from Scottish pop up Dram & Smoke dishes out a winter feast in London Bridge warehouse, with traditional 'scran, bevvy and general flumgummerie'

Dram & Smoke
With winter truly settling in, why not give yourself a taste of the cold Scottish Highlands, safely in the comparable comfort of England’s capital city. Tucked away in a yard of bustling Bermondsey Street is Dram & Smoke’s latest Scottish pop up.
If the name sounds familiar, it’s because they had an incredibly successful—sell-out in fact—run at the start of summer, with a feast of Scottish fayre fit for a king.

The principle is the same—great food, well-sourced ingredients, cleverly matched drinks and large tables loaded with dishes perfect for sharing.

This time, though, they’ve shifted slightly further up the river—this time to a warehouse in London Bridge—and expanded their menu. It now features Scotland’s favourite fortified wine, Buckfast,or for more discerning tastes, there’s a range of whiskies and whisky-based cocktails from the gurus over at Monkey Shoulder; Scottish natives Brewdog will also be bringing their acclaimed
craft beers to the table.

The food, however, is the main attraction, and Dram & Smoke's new menu won’t disappoint. It offers diners five courses, commencing with our personal favourite from the summer—a haggis bon bon with smoked ketchup. That's followed by smoked coley and beetroot salad, and an intriguing smoked bacon and blue cheese porridge. For dessert, guests will be treated to a dark chocolate and raspberry mousse with salted whisky, butterscotch and shortbread — something you'll have to keep in mind while you’re tucking into the pièce de résistance—a venison wellington for diners to carve at their table.

And what better way to get spend a winter evening that chatting to your fellow diners, toasting Christmas or ringing in the New Year. At £40 a head, (including a welcome cocktail and a Monkey Shoulder miniature), it's certainly tempting to book out a whole table and forget the Christmas cooking this year.
