What's upon for grabs at Sotheby's Mayday Covid-19 Charity Auction
Great minds and famous faces from across arts, politics, business and science are offering their time and expertise to raise money for the work of the International Rescue Committee (IRC) to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in vulnerable communities.

The MayDay auction, hosted by Sotheby’s and Google, offers you the chance to bid on extraordinary experiences, all of which can be enjoyed virtually to enhance your lockdown. All prizes will be offered without any reserve, in an online auction that opens for bidding from 1-8 May 2020.

The prizes are made up of once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to interact with influential people. You could have a coffee date with activist and politician Hillary Rodham Clinton to discuss how the pandemic will change the world and how you can create positive changes. Seventeen-time Grammy Award-winning musician Sting is opening the doors to his home recording studio to invite two people on a virtual vocal-coaching, singing and song-recording session.

Seasoned thespian and film star Sir Patrick Stewart will share his expertise in an online acting lesson focussing on all things Shakespeare. Artist Marc Quinn will guide you through a creative session to create an original virtual artwork. Actor and comedian Sacha Baron Cohen will crack jokes for you and reflect on anything from writing to the internet.

Other experiences include a conversation with all five members of rock band The Strokes, a coffee and chat with former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, a conversation with president of the IRC David Miliband, a private talk with Apollo 9 astronaut Russell Schweickart and a personal coaching session with entrepreneur and best-selling author Tim Ferriss.

Along with donating funds to mitigate the effect of the coronavirus, the victorious bidders will also have the option to share their prize experience with front-line workers.
