The Dazzle, Found111 Theatre

Fresh from impressing in Bond, Andrew Scott stars in Richard Greenberg's The Dazzle at the theatre space in the Old Central St Martins Building

The Dazzle, Andrew Scott: London Theatre
Andrew Scott on stage
Though he's a global star for playing the villain in first Sherlock and now Bond, Andrew Scott is as much of a tour-de-force in the intimacy of the theatre. The BAFTA and Olivier-winning actor captivated crowds and critics at the National Theatre (Sea Wall, 2013) and Royal Court (Birdland, 2014) and now returns to the London stage to star in the UK premiere of Richard Greenberg's The Dazzle.

Found111: Theatre space
The American playwright made his name in London with 2003 smash hit Take Me Out (Donmar Warehouse), which went on to win host of awards both sides of the Atlantic. Now, more than a decade after it made a stir in New York, The Dazzle finally premieres in London at new theatre venture Found111. Set in the old Central St Martins School of Arts, Found 111 has already hosted Tooting Art Club's promenade production of Barbarians.

The Dazzle play
The play is loosely based on the true story turned urban legend of the Collyer brothers Langley (Andrew Scott) and Homer (David Dawson), who whose decaying corpses were found, surrounded by mounds of junk, in a Harlem brownstone in 1947. The debris, including 14 grand pianos and chunks of cars, was so extreme that it took three weeks of excavation to find Langley's body.

The Dazzle extrapolates the fascinating story behind these famed hoarders, deftly drawing out the two brothers' vulnerabilities and eccentricities. With flashes of Oscar Wilde-worthy wit and plenty of poetic license, Greenberg also portrays Langley as a volatile, manical musical genius. We very much look forward to seeing how Andrew Scott, so arresting as the unhinged Moriarty in Sherlock, brings out the extremities of the character.
