11 February 2016 is a date that will go down in scientific history. On this fateful Thursday, America's LIGO observatory announced the discovery of gravitational waves, first predicted by Einstein a hundred years ago. Much celebration ensued, and the findings were quickly declared among the most important in modern science. But we have to admit, we're still a little confused.

Why are these waves so important? The gist of it is that gravitational waves are produced by, and allow us to study, major space events many millions of years in the past. But don't take it from us. Instead join renowned astrophysicist Lawrence Krauss whose talk 'Space, Time, and Gravitational Waves' takes place on March 3. He's already written about the discovery in lucid, not mention lyrical, prose for The New York Times so our expectations are certainly high.

The first wave of tickets have already sold out, but runaway demand has seen the talk moved to the larger-capacity Conway Hall. Don't miss your chance to pick up the second round.
