Story. Do You Tell It Like Me? SohoCreate Festival 2015

Playwright Polly Stenham, computer game creator Mick Bithell and architect Amanda Levete talk story-telling at SohoCreate Festival.

Playwright Polly Stenham
The art of storytelling takes centre stage as three very different raconteurs and creatives discuss their narratives and themes in a talk at SohoCreate Festival. Celebrating the different media and methods that create a story, the three speakers will give their own perspectives and explore the different ways in which art forms create an absorbing narrative,
Different ways of telling story: stage, game and structure
Playwright Polly Stenham (That Face, Royal Court; Hotel, National Theatre), has built a starry reputation on unflinching and honest stories, inspired by 'emotional violence'. Having won awards and broken records with the success of debut play, That Face, written when she way 19, Stenham showed that compelling stories come from talent and creativity rather than age and experience.
Discussing a more modern method of story-telling, creator of computer games Volume and Thomas was Alone Mike Bithell will reflect on the narratives around which his games are built. We're interested to hear about the ways in which traditional stories shape virtual worlds.
RIBA Stirling Prize winning architect Amanda Levete will discuss how telling a story is one of the inspirations behind designs including the Lord's Media Centre, and how she balances such creative ideas with the practical constraints of creating a building.
