Beauty tips from Zoë Taylor

Make-up artist Zoë Taylor shares her best beauty advice for healthy, glowing winter skin

As the seasons change so should your skincare routine. The winter months are an ideal time to include skincare steps to treat specific skin concerns such as pigmentation and fine lines. However, it's important to keep a very close eye on which ingredients you are using to ensure your skin barrier doesn’t become compromised, thus resulting in hypersensitivity. It isn’t about slathering on moisturiser to cope with winter skin, but instead by layering a range of products. You will find the results will be far more effective and your skin won't become congested.

CHANEL L’HUILE Anti-Pollution Cleansing Oil

I love an oil cleanser as it works on many skin-types without unnecessarily stripping skin of its barrier. CHANEL Anti-Pollution Cleansing Oil contains Marine Salicornia extract which is deeply moisturising and helps strengthen the skin. It also contains blue micro-algae which protect cells from micro-stress caused by pollution. Facial massage is important all year round, but make sure you don’t skip it during the colder months as it can give a real boost to the natural plumpness of the skin, increasing blood flow to the area and encouraging cell renewal. This is a heavenly product to use during your facial massage.

It’s a good idea to add a chemical exfoliant if you haven’t already included this in your daily routine. It's a very gentle way to refine, smooth and brighten skin by accelerating cell turn over. Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Salicylic Acid Exfoliant is a non-abrasive leave on exfoliant with salicylic acid to unclog pores, even out skin tone and help to smooth wrinkles.

For some people thick moisturisers are amazing especially during the winter months, but this isn’t the case for everyone. With Red Camelia included in its ingredients to add comfort to the skin and protect its barrier function.

TINKER TAYLOR Lip Kit

Lips are often forgotten during skincare routines, but they are even more fragile during the colder months due to them being much thinner than the rest of the skin on the face. Try keeping the dryness at bay by regularly buffing them and hydrating them. The Tinker Taylor Lip Kit is a natural 3 part lip-care sequence containing Lip Scrub for buffing off dry skin, Lip Oil packed with Jojoba oil, grape seed oil and chia seed oil for a hit of quickly absorbed hydration and Lip Balm with Shea and cupuaca seed butter to nourish and seal it all in.

Don’t forget your SPF for the day, even though it might seem mad to put it on when there isn’t much sunlight, don’t be fooled, it is still very important and can also help to protect your skin from the harmful blue light of computers and other screens. Ultra Violette has an excellent range of SPF to suit all skin types. I personally use Queen Screen as it gives incredible protection, and it's lightweight making it perfect under foundation.
