You may be aware of The Big Draw: a month-long fiesta of arts events taking over London this October. This year, the theme is STEAM, celebrating Science, Technology Engineering, Art and Maths. Whoever said art and science don't mix hadn't spent much time scribbling away at The Big Draw (or indeed wondering around the Science Museum's Wonderlab).

We've already told you about the awesome Animals at the Tower drawing workshop here. And if your little ones are proto-Picassos, mini-Michelangelos or tiny Titians, then they'll love our top pick of the family-fun arts events on all over London this October half term. Get them in the diary now!

Designs on Your Money at the Bank of England Museum
If you're anything like us, you'll have oohed and ahhed at the new plastic five pound note. The Bank of England Museum is offering little ones to design their own secure banknote this half term, with big prizes up for grabs! What will your kids add to secure their note? Who will grace the bill? Take inspiration from the Banknote Gallery and find out a little more about the process of creating and securing banknotes. This time next year, they'll be millionaires!

From Lines to Shapes; A Journey Through Drawing at the National Gallery
What it says on the tin. This experience will encourage your kids to take a pencil for a walk through history, from the age of steam to the modern day. We can't promise it will be a masterpiece, we can promise it will be abstract.
30th October, 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 4pm, free

Cyborgs at the Castle, Strawberry Hill House
The infamous gothic revival villa designed and built by Horace Walpole is playing host to creepy cyborgs this half term. Walpole wrote his first gothic novel here at Strawberry Hill, where a terrifying nightmare led him to write about the armoured fist he saw in the dark of night. Kids are able to experiment with different materials to create a spooky fantasy monster, and if you come back on the 30th October, you'll be able to see your creepy cyborg up in lights!

A Foundling Feast at the Foundling Museum
The Foundling Museum is welcoming those aged between 6 and 11 to draw a phenomenal feast for the foundlings at the Hospital inspired by the colours of food we eat in modern Britain. Isobel Manning, Head of Arts at Great Ormond Street Hospital will be on hand to give you ideas, using historic kitchen utensils as drawing materials.

Super Volcano, The Grove, Middlesex University
This exciting collaboration between Middlesex University, The Big Draw, SMASHfestUK and the Royal Academy of Engineering is all about protecting an rebuilding our world in the face of a fictional super volcano eruption. There will be a virtual reality session with awesome high-tech goggles where your kids can draw something using the images they see from the virtual world, and there'll also be a visit from the animals of Michael's Mobile Menagerie. How will we survive?
28th October, 10am - 4pm free

Constructed Drawing
This workshop with contemporary artist, Anne Harild will tell you all you need to know about current restoration works at Pitzhanger Manor. No matter if you can't draw a straight line with a ruler, or if you're a Botticelli in disguise, everyone is welcome.
