Get your skates on: the new Television Centre ice rink is the latest place to glide in London

Television Centre Ice Rink, White City
You’ve seen it on TV, but not like this: White City's Television Centre takes on winter with an ice rink and a 20ft Christmas tree in its cylindrical forecourt. The ice rink is part of the relaunch of Television Centre – formerly home to the BBC – as a new focal point for culture and entertainment in west London.

Whether you’ve worked up an appetite from skating or prefer to stay off slippery surfaces altogether, the street food offering here is just as exciting as the ice rink: modern Indian restaurant Kricket has opened a third outlet on the grounds, serving up its much-loved, Mumbai-inspired small plates. Meanwhile five-star pizzeria Homeslice is firing up the pizza oven ready to scorch its unusually-topped breads, and NYC-style burger joint Patty&Bun is bringing up the rear with its meaty classics. Those looking for something a little more refined, meanwhile, will be pleased to hear the new Television Centre also plays host to the White City branch of Chelsea favourite: Bluebird Café.

If your skating skills have got a bit rusty, worry not: the ice rink offers lessons for beginners and advanced skaters alike. Those keen to venture there will want to do so soon, though. The rink is currently only planned to stay open until 20 December. Here's hoping for an extension.
