Sherlock Holmes Museum

Kids make the most of London and step into the world of crime-fighting at the Sherlock Holmes Museum

Sherlock Holmes Museum London
Sherlock Holmes and Dr John H. Waston lived at 221B Baker Street between 1881-1904 -- so go the stories written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
The house, a real house that can be visited by families curious about Sherlock Holmes and his companion, is protected by the government due to its "special architectural and historical interest" and boasts a 1st floor study overlooking Baker Street faithfully maintained for posterity as it was kept in Victorian Times.
Young fans of the books, which have once again become famous through film adaptations and of course Benedict Cumberbatch's Sherlock Holmes in the BBC series Sherlock, should head over to Baker Street, keeping an eye out for Sherlock Holmes look-a-likes near Marylebone station.
At the Sherlock Holmes Museum (actually located between 237 and 241 Baker Street) families will find a recreation of Sherlock's famous study, as described in the books, and can take a look at Dr Watson's bedroom complete with his belongings and handwritten notes from the great detective.
You should buy tickets from the shop before joining the queue as at busy times there can be a long wait, and make sure you look at 2 Devonshire Place, where Sherlock Holmes author Sir Authur Conana Doyle's medical practice was located.
Culture Whisper recently took two children there aged 12 and 14, who absolutely loved it. Handy buses and nearby tubes, a wonderful gift shop and helpful staff who help get you in the spirit with their costumes make for an invaluable experience bound to excite your little ones and inspire them to read the books if they haven't already.
