Celebrate brightly coloured flutterers at the fantastic tropical butterfly house at the Natural History Museum London, which has returned for its ninth year with another round of wriggling caterpillars transforming into colourful butterflies.

Whether you're the future King of England (who you may remember enjoyed a visit to the Natural History Museum's butterfly house in 2016) or just an ordinary family member, this is a great day out for nature lovers and young children.

Navigate your way through humid greenery and tropical plants to learn all about how a munching caterpillar becomes a cocoon before bursting out to unfold its new radiant wings. You can even spy the moment a caterpillar emerges through the hatchery window!

The museum is hyper aware of the ethical side of things too. All of the gorgeous flutterers have been responsibly sourced from across Africa, Asia and the America.

There are heaps of interactive displays and games to keep little ones occupied and hundreds of fluttering butterflies and moths overhead. You'll also be taught tips on how to attract butterflies and nurture them in your own garden.
