Powerful pride of Asiatic lions become the Kings of the London jungle at London Zoo

Two males and a female lion (wikipedia)
Three powerful female lions prowl around their little bit of India - in the heart of London. The new male lion is in hiding, in his first few days in his new territory, having made his mark in the dust. This is the re-openining of ZSL London Zoo's Land of the Lions.

A pride of endangered Asiatic lions has arrived in this specially constructed and stylised enclosure, styled on the ruins of an amphitheatre-like lion temple. Three walkways cover the 2,500sqm exhibit with an immersive India-themed area, including a train station, hight street and guard hut, that visitors can explore is a atmospheric piece of architecture that brings the smells and architecture of India -- complete with monkeys.

Families can get up close to the beautiful big cats thanks to newly installed 'windowless-views' created using fine wires. Then, embark on an interactive Indian adventure helping ZSL’s forest rangers deal with a ‘lion-emergency’ in the Gir Forest, and lend a hand to the veterinary team who come to the rescue.

A great excuse to go back to London Zoo this May half term and -- of course -- enjoy all the other animals whilst you're there, especially late at night at Sunset Safari.
