The Who Hits 50 with Liam Gallagher
A spectacular evening of music is in the offing at Shepherds Bush Empire this November in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust, as a host of stars come together to commemorate The Who's 50th anniversary.
While Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey (a patron of the trust) will be in attendance on the night, they will be taking a back seat to watch singers from across the years and across the musical spectrum take turns reworking their iconic sound. Foremost amongst these names is Liam Gallagher, who will be performing for the first time since announcing on Twitter last week the split of his group Beady Eye.
He will be joined throughout the night by Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam, the Manics' James Dean Bradfield, Tom Odell, Amy MacDonald, Ricky Wilson, Wilko Johnson (who recently announced his own “all clear” from cancer), Rizzle Kicks and more.
Each artist will perform with The Who Band, a one-time collection of musicians feature Pete's brother Simon Townshend and Zak Starkey, who played previously with Liam and Noel as the drummer for Oasis.
Tickets go on sale Friday October 31 for what promises to be a star-studded tribute to one of the UK's most iconic groups, and a fantastic evening of fundraising and support for a truly worthwhile cause.
