Quintessential Britpop, belted out on '90s car journeys, Texas are the band you forgot you loved.

Having played an array of British and European festivals over the last few years, the Glaswegian pop-Rockers are back on tour this year, celebrating 25 years of music making.

Texas emerged in 1989 with sound shipped direct from America’s South. Their debut single I Don’t Want A Lover was an international hit: a bluesy number, complete with a twanging country guitar.

The hallmark of the band is Sharleen Spiteri’s smooth voice, which ranges from deep-down low to a high, Madonna-esque squeal.

Over several successful albums, the band moved musically away from the rootsy-Americana of their debut and into a more stadium-friendly pop-rock. But Spiteri’s voice remained unmistakable, giving weight to such hits as Summer Son, Inner Smile, Black-Eyed Boy and In Demand.  In 2013 Texas returned to the studio and released the critically acclaimed The Conversation, their first album in eight years and a return to the Americana that made them famous.

You can Say What You Want but Texas will have you and singing along, hands in the air, to songs you didn’t know you knew the words to.

    What the critics say

    THE TELEGRAPH

"This was a rousing show packed with passion and their brand of shiny melodic pop rock... Spiteri looked like she was having a blast- high kicking during the topical ‘Detroit City’ and clambering into the crowd to hug a man celebrating his birthday."

    Sarfraz Manzoor

    Q MAGAZINE

"The album takes Texas deep into their rock-soul roots without sacrificing their strengths or wearily re-treading past glories."

    VENUE

The Roundhouse in Camden, built in 1847, was originally a service depot for railway locomotives. Inside it is spacious and modern, and the venue now hosts its own record label too, Roundhouse Records.
