Indian Accent, Mayfair

Already a sensation in Delhi and New York, the opening of the experimental Indian Accent in London was eagerly anticipated by the capital's most discerning Indian gastronomy devotees

Indian Accent, Mayfair
Indian Accent first opened in New Delhi in 2009, with executive chef Manish Mehrotra at the helm of its innovative and perhaps unorthodox menu. In 2016, a second outpost launched in New York and now Albemarle Street is home to the third. The elegant Mayfair location is complete with jade green velvet banquettes and a mellow jazz soundtrack.

The most satisfying way to experience the depth, complexity and delicacy of Mehrotra's creativity is by ordering the lunch or dinner tasting menu. It's a moving experience and touches all the senses. Mehrotra uses local produce and modern technique to construct dishes in a very different way to any other high-end Indian restaurant in Mayfair.

Standout dishes include: a crisp beet and peanut butter vadai with goat's cheese pachadi; and wild mushroom kulcha with black dairy dal and pistachio cream, with wasabi cucumber raita. Most captivating of all is makhani malai: saffron milk, rose petal jaggery brill and almonds. Drink an exquisite "Proper Copper" kaffir lime leaf infused vodka cocktail with honey and rosewater adorned with rose petals out of a copper mug.
