Kwānt, Mayfair

Erik Lorincz, former head barman at The Savoy, launches Kwānt beneath Moroccan restaurant Momo in Mayfair

El Bar, Momo Restaurant Mayfair
Erik Lorincz is the man of the moment in the bartending world. His stint at The Savoy saw its American Bar named the best in the world at 'The World’s 50 Best Bar Awards' in 2017. The mixologist extraordinaire designed cocktails especially for The Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the James Bond film Skyfall. Having left The Savoy in April of last year to work on Birdy, his range of high-tech bar tools, Lorincz heads back behind the bar to oversee beverages in a new cocktail bar called Kwānt beneath Moroccan restaurant Momo in Mayfair.

The 'subtly tropical' interiors at Kwānt

Momo is a North African restaurant that has been open for the past two decades. It's owned by Mourad Mazouz, whose other London restaurant is the Michelin-starred Sketch. Both the restaurant and bar below have recently been refurbished. The bar was previously rumoured to be going by the name of ‘El Bar’, but Lorincz and his team have since gone with Kwānt (pronounced ‘quaint’) instead.

Hunker down amidst the tropical decor and wooden panelling to enjoy one of 24 cocktails (or five mocktails), many of which have been mixed using herbs grown in-house. Concoctions include the titular KWĀNT (£15): Roku Gin mixed with St Germain elderflower liqueur, grapefruit juice and matcha tea.

With Lorincz in charge of the mixing, Kwānt’s cocktails should be among the best in the world.
