It’s no secret that we at Culture Whisper are huge fans of poké bowls, the Hawaiian raw-fish dish that frequents our daydreams and Instagram feeds. It's no wonder, then, that we are wildly excited about Japanese cafe Tombo.
From Tokyo to London via Honolulu, Tombo offers a Japanese twist on poké alongside traditional donburi bowls. Deconstructed sushi has never been more delicious!
Tombo Japanese Cafe is hosting an evening of premium saké tasting and food pairings, led by Mr Takayuki Ono from the famous Ozeki Sake brewery in Japan. Culture Whisper guests will be greeted with yuzu sparkling sake on arrival as an aperitif. Mr Ono will give a brief introduction to the world of sake, guiding members through tasting 5 different sake selections.
The saké tasting will be accompanied by a four-course Tombo food pairing. Alongside the high-grade sashimi will be rice and courgette noodle options, which are suitable for vegetarians and vegans. Why not try one of their staples like the Kaisen Bowl (ponzu citrus soy, salmon, tuna, edamame, avocado, and nori)? Or, if you are feeling adventurous, choose from a selection of bases, mains, toppings, and sauces to build your own bowl.
Complete the tasting experience by sampling some of their award-winning matcha teas or their matcha desserts. Soft serve matcha ice cream and cheesecake are sure to delight!
At the end of the event, guests will have the opportunity to purchase any sake they enjoyed.
