Spago, Park Lane, restaurant pop-up

One of LA's most famous restaurants is dropping in on London for three days only this summer

Spago restaurant in LA will pop-up in London this summer
Hollywood hot-spot Spago is making headlines in Britain, having announced that it will pop up in London for three days this summer.

The restaurant is one of LA's most popular celebrity magnets. Leonardo DiCaprio, Bradley Cooper, Jack Nicholson and Goldie Hawn are among its regular clientele. Now head chef Wolfgang Puck is bringing the restaurant to London for a three-day residency this June and July, to celebrate 35 years since the restaurant first opened in Hollywood. Since 1982, it has offered truly Californian cuisine in a glamorous yet refined environment.

Spago has become so much a key part of the Hollywood scene that it has just been given a star on the Hollywood celebrity walk of fame. Puck intends to bring some of its most famous dishes to London. Among them will be the squid ink garganelli served with Maine lobster; rye-encrusted sea bass with summer shelling beans; chanterelle mushrooms and smoked pork belly with a bean-mascarpone emulsion; and a chirashi sushi box with Japanese red snapper, big eye tuna, tosa soy gel and yuzu kosho.

Puck will be working alongside his LA chef de cuisine, Tetsu Yahagi, and CUT at 45 Park Lane's executive chef, David McIntyre. This collaboration is especially pertinent for Puck, whose first European restaurant, CUT at 45 Park Lane, is now playing host to Spago, the very first restaurant the chef set up. Since it opened in 2011, CUT at 45 Park Lane has been much lauded as a modern American steak restaurant.

One-off exclusive touches will be added to the menu at CUT to celebrate Spago's 35th anniversary, including rare 1982 vintage Champagne Lanson, and a selection of sought-after wines selected from the year that Spago opened.

The pop-up will be held at CUT at 45 Park Lane. With its sumptuous interior furnished in whites and creams, it is a fitting setting for one of LA's most glamourous and busy restaurants.
