Molé Taco Bar, Marylebone ★★★★

Dreaming of Latin flavours? Daring new Mexican Molé Taco Bar packs a punch in Marylebone with fresh flavours and creative twists

Molé Taco Bar London
Tucked away behind the bustle of Oxford Street is Marylebone's brand new Mexican joint with a difference. From the creators of Cocohan, the pan-Asian hot spot just a skip and a jump away, Molé is carving a place amongst the Wahacas of the world with it's daring menu.
Fresh twist to traditional Mexican
First up, Molé injects new life into it's namesake Mexican sauce with a Willy Wonka type inventive streak as Chocolate, Chilli, Nuts and countless other ingredients all get thrown into the mix. The result of this big city version of a classic is like nothing you've ever tasted before (and might not be for the tentative palette).
Molé takes Mexican/South American flavours and turns them upside-down. From the made-to-order Guacamole, peppered with sweet Pomegranate, to the melt-in-your-mouth cornflour tacos made in house and hand-pressed everyday, there are surprises at every turn.
Tacos gone wild
The main draw are the tacos - with the star players being the 16-hour braised Chipotle Beef Short Rib and sumptuous Braised Oxtail served with a hearty helping of Blackberries. These small plates are perfect for sharing and designed to ease you into the more experimental corners of the menu.
Molé dishes up two specials a week of extraordinary tacos that will blow your socks off: from the Cod Cheeks with a Squid Ink Foam to Slow Cooked Pork Belly with Pickled Watermelon (delicate and scrumptious). Then there are the mouth-watering cured dishes and cerviches (we dare you to try the black cerviche) at the raw bar for daredevil diners.
And to drink?
At the reclaimed wood bar you'll find an assortment of South American tipples, from dark Kraken Rum, Demarada syrup and Maraschino liqueur to Jose Cuervo Blanco Tequila with a fruity kick of Ginger, Rose, Cucumber and Lime.
The latin vibe is cool and understated, with rustic exposed brick and a painting of Frida Kahlo herself looking down with approval. Perfect for diners ready to take on Mexican with a creative zing, there are also plenty of delicious fresh flavours and traditional techniques to impress beginners.
