Acklam Village Market

Street food market Acklam Village gets a round-up of all Culture Whisper's favourite pop up stalls in West London's Portobello area.

Acklam Village Market
The little sister of neighbouring Portobello Market which it conjoins, Acklam Village sits at the heart of the Portobello area.

Guasaca
The Guasaca team have been bringing Venezuelan street food to West London for a while now, and have gained plenty of admirers along the way. Their homemade arepas - a Venezuelan cornbread patty filled with meat or fresh vegetables - are made to perfection every time. We particularly like their braised pork arepa, served with black-eyed peas, pico de gallo, cheese and a generous side of their signature sauce.

Bloom Kitchen
Serving hearty Jewish soul food like salt-beef sandwiches and chicken matzo soup, Bloom Kitchen are also popular for their homemade carrot cake and red velvet cupcakes, which easily give Hummingbird Bakery a run for their money.

Chico Latino
Peruvian food is only beginning to make its presence felt in the capital, and Chico Latino’s Peruvian chicken sandwiches are helping it on its way. The chicken is carefully marinated, and then served in fresh ciabatta with peppers and salad. They can be washed down with a bottle of Inca Kola, Peru’s bright yellow answer to the reign of Coca Cola.

Mandola
Serving Sudanese tawas, a meat wrap with an East African twist, Mandola is famed for its flavours, and rightly so. We also suggest you try ful medames, made of mashed fava beans, parsley, lemon and oil.

Marrakesh Kitchen
Specialising in North African cuisine, Marrakesh Kitchen never fails to satisfy with its grilled lamb or chicken kefta. They also do sweet chicken tagines, and lamb with aromatic couscous, dishes both sure to brighten up even the greyest Saturday afternoon.
