Humble Grape Wine Bar, Fleet Street

Excellent new London wine bar, Humble Grape Fleet Street, is now open

Humble Grape Wine Bar, Fleet Street
Look out, Vinoteca – there's a new kid on the block.

Battersea's incredibly successful wine bar has opened up a new venue on Fleet Street. A 200 seat development, the new Humble Grape takes over a massive, unoccupied building on St Bride's Passage – once, fittingly, the site of the Press House Wine Bar. The den boasts a large wine cellar, where you can buy bottles to take away, and a bar where you can sit and drink your selection there and then.

The Chef also boasts an impressive repertoire: Anna Allan – of Chelsea Arts Club and The Shed repute – has curated a menu to match the wines: and it all sounds rather delicious. Having now visited, we can confirm that the food is indeed delicious; a sharing plate of cured Italian meats offered genuinely spicy chorizo with salsa verde and perfect bresaola, and a sea bass dish was perfectly seasoned and of the very highest calibre. The wines available by the glass are an eclectic and delicious selection; we especially enjoyed the Winzer Schup Rotgipfler ('as crazy as its name', the tasting notes sagely offer) and a fine, punchy Domaine Pichard & Jourdan L'Arcestrale Cabernet Franc.

Humble Grape will also be hosting tasting dinners with high-profile suppliers, so if you want to learn from the best, book up for one of the sure to be sold-out events. For those who are about to imbibe, we salute you.
