Florentine, all day dining, Lambeth
Sharing platters dominated talk of restaurant trends in London last year, and now one new Lambeth opening (don't fret: the weird location is only a short walk from the South Bank) is taking sharing plates a step further with an ostrich egg designed for six to tuck in to.

The ostrich egg is the showpiece climax in the suave all-day fare at new British restaurant, Florentine. Menus aren't yet published, though we do know that plenty of effort is going into the Sunday roast – which has a bottomless option – and there'll be DJs at weekends.

The restaurant boasts polished interiors, with buttoned leather sofas spread along the walls, stand-out mirrors and polished stone floors. And there are plenty of floor-to-ceiling windows for natural light.

Straying slightly from its British theme, wood-fired pizza is available to pair rather nicely with the restaurant's sprightly range of British fizzes, wines and beers, drinks which will curve more sharply than most towards artisanal; expect rotating sups from burgeoning London producers and cocktails made from superfood.
