Xavier Rousset, sommelier, to open new wine-focused Marylebone restaurant in May

Sommelier Xavier Rousset is opening a wine bar and restaurant in Marylebone this May. This is his first independent project since leaving the Michelin-starred Texture 28°- 50°, which he co-founded.

Rousset’s passion and knowledge for drinks is clearly evidenced by the 250-strong wine list, curated from countries around the world, along with up to 50 Champagnes. If buying a whole bottle isn’t your thing, there will also be around 16-20 wines served by the glass.

Although his expertise will be determining the majority of names listed, part of it will be interactive. “Customers and what I call ‘wine celebrities’ will have an influence on the list,” has said Rousset.

The restaurant will be small, only 40-45 covers and will serve Mediterranean-influenced food. The menu will encompassed large and small plates, but not in a Tapas style. We are hoping for a refined but welcoming atmosphere in this new Marylebone restaurant.

A second venue is planned to open at the end of July in the City, near Bank station.
