Octavia Poetry Collective presents: Africa Writes Party 2018: The Year of the Womxn

Africa Writes Festival
Octavia is a poetry collective for womxn of colour that formed in response to the notable lack of representation and inclusivity in literature and academia. Since 2015, Octavia have come together to read beyond the canon and write themselves. They meet monthly at Southbank Centre, London, and regard it as their poetic home.

In the aftermath of 2017’s sold out R.A.P Party, Africa Writes returns with the official festival party hosted by Octavia Poetry Collective – and this time it's Wakanda-themed.

The evening will be filled with poetry, music and dancing in a celebration of the words, the art, the song of womxn from Africa and the diaspora. Featuring Theresa Lola, Momtaza Mehri, Sarah Lasoye, Victoria Adukwei Bulley, Hibaq Osman, Rachel Long, Belinda Zhawi, Amina Jama, and a speech on ‘Warrior Womxn Writers’ by special guest Bernardine Evaristo.
