Julia Roberts for Givenchy

Julia Roberts Pretty Woman star fronts new Givenchy campaign 2014, embodying the ultimate modern woman.

Julia Roberts for Givenchy
Julia Roberts is the new face of the Givenchy campaign 2014. The images, which were released today, feature a sultry Roberts in an box fit suit, brooding make - up less into the lens. Direct and uncompromising, the campaign was shot by photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. This power stance is meant to depict the classic Givenchy woman, who embodies a feminine, seductive vibe with a masculine edge.
Creative Director of Givenchy Riccardo Tisci told Style 'I wanted an honest campaign. Every house has a show—you sell that, of course, but you do have in the shop what are your icons. I always start from my icons. The world is so full of images, so full of everything, if you don’t have an identity, it’s very difficult to find the point of where you want to go.' Of Roberts he said ' I respect her a lot as a beauty and as a woman. She’s a very intelligent girl. And a very funny girl. Super-funny.'
Over the years Givenchy has made stand against using conventional celebrities and models for the campaigns. Julia Roberts is one of the better known faces to feature, whilst previous models include Serpentine artist Marina Abramovic and musician Erykah Badu.
