It's the news dance audiences had been impatiently waiting for: Sadler's Wells is reopening its doors, albeit still under Covid-19 restrictions, to bring us a programme of live dance, running from mid-May to the end of summer.

Here's the schedule:

Monday 17 May to Sunday 30 May at 7:30pm (mats Thur & Sat at 2:30pm TBC). Tickets: £15-£65 (plus booking fee)
English National Ballet, Reunion
Specially commissioned as part of ENB's Digital Season, the five works now assembled under the title Reunion were originally created in a process of cross-fertilisation between dance and film, so that each medium simultaneously gave to, and gained from, the marriage. Now adapted for live performance, the works will be seen on stage for the first time.

Friday 21 May and Saturday 22 May at 7:30pm. Tickets: £20-£25 (plus booking fee)
Alexander Whitley, Overflow
Scheduled to premiere at Sadler's Wells last spring, Overflow fell victim to lockdown. Now, we finally get a chance to see the new work from Sadler's Wells New Wave Associate Alexander Whitley, one of the UK's most cerebral and meticulous choreographers. Cutting-edge technology takes centre stage side by side with exacting choreography.

Wednesday 2 June to Saturday 5 June at 7:30pm. Tickets £20-£55 (plus booking fee)
Rambert, Draw from Within
Draw from Within was an ambitious Rambert commission from Belgian avant-garde choreographer Wim Vandekeybus, streamed live in real time during lockdown. It proved one of the most exciting lockdown premieres, with its theatrical exploration of dreams and nightmares. Now Draw from Within has been adapted for live performance on stage.

Tuesday 8 June to Saturday 12 June
at 7:30pm. Tickets £15-£65 (plus booking fee)
Northern Ballet, Dangerous Liaisons and Contemporary Cuts 2021
Leeds-based Northern Ballet specialises in narrative works, so it was almost inevitable that sooner or later it would turn its hand to the meaty 18th-century story of sexual intrigue, power and deceit better known by its original French title Les Liaisons Dangereuses . You may have seen a theatre production of Choderlos de Laclos' epistolary novel, or the Hollywood film starring Michele Pfeiffer, Glenn Close and John Malkovich. Now you get the chance to see David Nixon's ballet, set to Vivaldi's The Four Seasons.

Should you prefer a mixed bill, Contemporary Cuts 2021 offers extracts from a number of Northern Ballet productions including Kenneth Tindall's States of Mind, inspired by the upheavals of 2020, plus excerpts from Jonathan Watkins' 1984 and Cathy Marston's Jane Eyre.

Thursday 1 July to Sunday, 4 July at 8pm. Tickets £15-£45 (plus booking fee)
Breakin' Convention
Sadler's Wells festival of hip-hop dance returns for its 18th year. Curated by Sadler's Wells Associate Artist Jonzi D, it will showcase some of the most outstanding talents in street dance. This year's edition will consist of two programmes: Breakin' Convention Presents on Thursday and Friday, and a second mixed programme on Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday 24 July
at 7.30pm. Tickets £10-£15 (plus booking fee)
National Youth Dance Company/Alesandra Seutin, Speak Volumes
A remarkable initiative to give young dance students a taste of professional life, National Youth Dance Company gathers youngsters for one year to work under a choreographer/director. This year's intake of 29 student dancers worked with the choreographer Alesandra Seutin and this performance of Speak Volumes will allow us to enjoy the fruits of their labours.

Friday 30 July to Sunday 5 September at 7.30pm. Tickets £15-£100 (plus booking fee)
Singin' in the Rain
The acclaimed Chichester production of this fizzing musical comes to Sadler's Wells. Full preview here.
