Jubilee Dance Party, Wembley Park

Wembley Park Jubilee Dance Party
One of London's liveliest neighbourhoods, Wembley Park, joins forces with two big names in dance – Rambert, the UK's oldest dance company, and Pineapple, the Covent Garden dance studios that have hosted everybody who's somebody in dance – for a mega street party marking the Queen's Platinum Jubilee on Saturday 4 June.

We're promised live music, dance classes, street performance and circus, plus a few surprises to be unveiled on the day.

With its wide boulevard and pedestrianised streets, Wembley Park offers a relaxed setting for this kind of event, where visitors will have the chance to learn all manner of dance styles: Bollywood, commercial (TikTok), street, swing, reggaeton and Afrobeats, Caribbean and rock & roll. As well, there will be Zumba and yoga classes.

Rambert is leading a number of classes, including Caribbean infused with socca and reggae vibes and conducted by Rambert faculty teacher Sheba Montserrat. Taking part in Montserrat's class will teach you not only new dance moves, but also a little of the history of the Caribbean and Black Britain.

Another Rambert class focuses on 1950s and 60s rock 'n roll. It will be taught by faculty member Emma Weir and is suitable for all ages and fitness levels, so ideal for a joint family undertaking.

Pineapple Dance Studios will be holding two ‘Dance TikTok Style’ classes during the afternoon that will teach participants all the latest Tik Tok style moves. Pineapple will also provide the finale to the day with a vibrant street/hip-hop class.

If you'd rather watch a performance than be part of it, many will be on offer, including by Britain's Got Talent semi-finalists The Next Generation.

The Next Generation
There will be a stage hosting family shows, horse guards stilt walkers, jugglers and circus skills demonstrations, face painters, bubbleologists, pavement artists and more to ensure everyone is entertained.

As you arrive for the party you will be given a Dance Passport which will be stamped as you attend classes or visit any of the many other attractions. And you may wish to leave your mark on this event by adding your pictures of the day to a digital photo wall to create a giant portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
