Akram Khan says one last farewell to full-length live performance with a reprise of Xenos, alongside Chotto Xenos, a child-appropriate version of the same piece

Chotto Xenos, a version of Akram Khan's solo work Xenos adapted specifically for young audiences (ages seven+) and families, runs at Sadler's Wells second stage, the Lilian Baylis studio, on Thursday 2 and Friday 3 December performed by the Akram Khan Company. All details and tickets here

When Xenos came to Sadler's Wells in spring 2018 as part of a nationwide tour, it was intended as Akram Khan's last full-length solo performance. Then in his mid-40s, Khan had decided to concentrate on creating work for others, himself making shorter, maybe cameo appearances.

However, for such a consummate performer, leaving the stage is not easy, and now, following the enforced inactivity of the long lockdown period, Khan is back with a reprise of his extended farewell work, Xenos. Conjuring up the shell-shocked dream of an Indian soldier fighting for Britain in World War one, Xenos is a tour de force solo for Khan, a remarkable work, which we have no hesitation in recommending.
