As part of the BBC Proms 2015, London-based Russian violinist Alina Ibragimova's recitals will present the complete set over two late night concerts. There can be few players better suited to performing this music. A prodigy in her native Russia, since studying in the UK she has won numerous honours and recorded an acclaimed rendition of Bach’s violin works.
The first concert of the pair will see her play the Sonata No. 1 in G major, the Partita No. 1 in B minor and the Sonata No. 2 in A minor. There is every chance that Ibragimova, known for favouring period fidelity over virtuosic pomposity, will perform with electrifying confidence and dexterity. It looks to be a highlight of Proms season 2015.
