Christmas at Cadogan, Cadogan Hall

Christmas music for every time of day, two minutes from your shopping in Sloane Square. Top artists, rising stars and ensembles large and small celebrate the season

Christmas at Cadogan features music by candlelight
The comfortable and civilised Cadogan Hall is just the place to take refuge in music when the Christmas preparations overwhelm you. Escape at lunchtime or reward yourself with an evening concert: there's musical refreshment for every taste on nearly every day of December.

Here is our pick of the concerts, from the many Culture Whisper favourites who perform from 1 to 28 December:

Ethereal English sacred music and pieces by Brahms and Verdi are on the programme of the Choir of St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle (3 Dec) – the choir who sang at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in May.

Jennifer Pike is the violin soloist with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra (4 Dec), with its musical Christmas stocking packed with short and colourful pieces from the orchestral repertoire, including Dvorak's Carnival Overture, Debussy's Claire de Lune and Vaughan Williams's The Lark Ascending.

Soprano Fflur Wyn joins the Mozart Festival Orchestra and Highgate Choral Society for a concert by candlelight in 18th-century costume (12 Dec).

Two great vocal ensembles appear in the week before Christmas. The Sixteen (17 and 18 Dec) under Harry Christophers sing seasonal favourites, including extracts from Handel's Messiah and carols, including I Saw Three Ships, Once in Royal David's City, and Hark! The Herald Angels.

The Bach Choir performs with London City Brass

The Bach Choir (19 Dec) goes beyond the composer from which it takes its name, with traditional Christmas music and carols, including the Coventry Carol. London City Brass adds a jubilant note, and the audience will join in.

Christmas doesn't bring the music to an end: London Concertante (28 Dec) refreshes the appetite and fights off the cold with invigorating Viennese music by Strauss, Tchaikovsky and Brahms.
