Mortdecai

Released early 2015, 'Mortdecai' stars Johnny Depp as an eponymous art dealer on a race around the globe to track down a stolen painting, the supposed clue to the location of Nazi gold

Mortdecai
Hated Johnny English? Then this probably isn't for you. Based on Kyril Bonfiglioli’s screwball crime novels of the ’70s, Mortdecai follows the eccentric exploits of the English art dealer as he tracks down a painting said to pinpoint Nazi gold. As Mortdecai, Johnny Depp gets to do what he does best (or rather, does exclusively): play the outlandish maverick with outré mannerisms and a queer accent. If he’s been somewhat subdued in recent films (The Lone Ranger, the lamentable Transcendence), here we can expect a return to scenery-chomping form.
Depp is surrounded by a strong cast of British thespians (plus Gwyneth Paltrow). Ewan McGregor plays Inspector Martland, Mortdecai’s partner in crime-solving, while Paul Bettany puts in an appearance as the hero’s Jeeves-esque servant Jock Strapp. With prolific screenwriter David Koepp (Jurassic Park) at the helm, we’re expecting good things – and at least two sequels.
