Zoo Nights, London Zoo

Zoo Nights, the hugely-popular after-hours explorations of London Zoo, return to Regent's Park this summer, courtesy of the Zoological Society of London (ZSL).

Every Friday evening in June and July, ZSL London Zoo will welcome grown-ups only through its gates, with more than 18,000 animals on display and blissful freedom to browse, mingle and take stunning photographs as the sun goes down. It's especially enjoyable to get a glimpse of the nocturnal creatures waking up for a night on the prowl.

Beyond the wildlife, guests have the chance to participate in guided tours: You’ll Never See a Moon-Walking Emu sheds light on the quirkiest of animal facts, and – back by popular demand – Birds and the Bees Uncut involves a light-hearted introduction to the mysteries of sex in the animal kingdom.

Also returning is the zoo’s Street Food Festival (featuring Indian nibbles, Mexican snacks and everything in between), sure to keep you happily-fed until the light fades and the music begins. Then, the open-air Light Lounge offers live acrobatics to a chilled-out beat, while Live and Unplugged spins a more acoustic yarn at the BUGS House.

There’s something for everyone, it goes without saying – even if staying overnight takes your fancy. VIP Zoo Nights make for an extra-special visit, with welcome drinks, luxurious accommodation in an en suite twin or double cabin at the heart of London Zoo, and a private morning tour that comes with the opportunity to feed some of the animals.

But whether you visit for the evening or curl up for a night in, Zoo Nights certainly promise a Friday evening celebration in London like no other.

Tickets are strictly limited and sold out quickly last year – booking is open now for Zoo Nights in June. The July Zoo Nights go on sale from Wednesday 1 June.
