Writer Carl Grose and director Melly Still promise to send arrows flying in a bold new direction with their production of Robin Hood for Regent's Park Open Air Theatre

While this fresh take on the Robin Hood legend is aimed at families with kids aged eight and up, its creative team are bound to lace the story with plenty to appeal to adult sensibilities. The adaptation comes from Carl Grose, former deputy artistic director of recently retired Kneehigh Theatre Company (RIP!), who wrote their riotous show Dead Dog in a Suitcase. Meanwhile, innovative director Melly Still (The Wreckers and climate play The Gretchen Question) is steering it onto stage.

Set in a desperate and divided kingdom (sound familiar?), the production promises an update on the classic tale that'll send arrows flying in a bold new direction, while keeping the appearance of olde-worlde green tights to a minimum. Regent's Park will become the story's forest full of secrets, and as for whether the forest's people can outwit the wrathful sheriff, well, you'll have to book a ticket to find out.
