Dry January: where to enjoy non-alcoholic drinks in London

By Sudi Pigott on 2/1/2020

Whether you're cutting down after an excessive party season or fully committing to Dry January 2020, sobriety doesn't have to be dull. Wean yourself off the wine, vanquish the vodka and banish the beer this January with the most delicious and inventive mocktails.

The mover and shaker: Shaman

While many bars pull together an alcohol-free menu of mocktails, kombuchas and zero or low-ABV wines for January, new bar Shaman is the first of its kind in being a bespoke bar dedicated to no and low alcohol drinks. Based at the Leman Locke hotel in Aldgate, this latest offering from hospitality trailblazers The Initiative claims to have ‘healing, rejuvenation and self-care’ at its core. More specifically, it serves up a range of juices designed to improve gut health, along with a less virtuous range of pastries – all of which comes from renowned chef Robin Gill (The Dairy, Counter Culture, Darby’s). Also on board with the venture, overseeing the health benefits of the concoctions, is nutritionist Olga Hamilton.

Step inside the exquisite-looking space, with interiors designed by award-winning agency Grzywinski Pons, and nourish the body with a ‘Skin Glow’ (carrot, turmeric, apple, ginger and lemon), or a ‘Beat the Bloat’ (activated coconut charcoal, lemon, lime, H20 and agave). Here’s to a toxin-free 2020.
