Bourne and Hollingsworth Buildings

01 Mar 15 – 15 Apr 15, 10am-4pm Saturday and Sunday

Bourne and Hollingsworth's signature cocktails are the best thing about their bottomless brunch.

If you haven't been down to the beautiful Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings, a relaxed, stylish Grand Café-style all-day bar and dining spot, you'll probably have heard of them, and their new brunch lineup, which jumps on to the new trend in 'bottomless cocktails'. Their aim is to create an atmosphere that 'salutes brunch's reputation as breakfast's adventurous older sister'. What better experience then, than a glass filled to the brim all day long?
Yet, whilst the restaurant's offerings of drop scones, french toast and poached eggs 'done three ways' sounds enticing on paper, the kitchen don't seem to have mastered their menu: dishes are ramped up to cloying levels of sweetness. If you've got a seriously sweet tooth, you might enjoy it, but the B&H brunch certainly won't be everyone's cup of tea.
While we've not much to say in favour of the food, when it comes to cocktails, B&H does stand out from the crowd. Amidst a morning lineup of fresh fruit juices and invigorating spirits (think gin, grapefruit and rosemary or fizz stirred through orange marmalade and pomegranate) two morning classics, the Bloody Mary and the Bellini are offered up bottomless throughout their brunch service.
So whether you'd prefer to cosy up by the open fire, perch at the marble-top cocktail bar or relax amidst trailing plants in the greenhouse, be sure to do so with a never-ending drink in your hand. Our only suggestion: skip the brunch.

    BOURNE & HOLLINGSWORTH

For the original Bourne & Hollingsworth, head to the end of Charlotte Street on the corner of Rathbone Place for a step back in time. Fans of quirky retro décor and teatime cocktails served in jam jars and teacups may have already ventured down Bourne & Hollingsworth’s stairs to their very first premises. This unique speakeasy is housed in a converted basement, complete with 1920s wallpaper, and the tiny bar serves up strong and well-crafted prohibition-themed cocktails that pack a serious punch – the perfect place to pop for a boogie and a chat to some of their eccentric clientele. This hidden cocktail bar a fully realised step back to the prohibition era decadence.
