Continuing its series of kitchen residencies since late 2014, which in January played host to the excellent Wild Serai, the recently-opened King & Co in Clapham opened its doors in early February to Bah Bah restaurant, specialising in Persian cooking and serving up hot and cold meze plates, fragrant Sabzi stews and an ever-changing daily specials menu.
Bah Bah restaurant, The King & Co. Clapham
Bah Bah restaurant (which, if you didn't know, is Farsi for 'delicious!') is the brainchild of James Nicholson, whose Iranian mother instilled in him a passion for the foods and flavours of her homeland. He interprets those lessons and homespun recipes in a modern style, filtering his childhood memories of those dishes through the experience of a decade working in top kitchens such as Hawksmoor and The Palomar to create stylish, modern middle-eastern dishes rooted in family tradition, and a personal infatuation.
Say hello to Bah Bah
Serving every day until March 29th, the Bah Bah restaurant team are adding a further gloss to the growing reputation of King & Co, who are setting themselves high standards to maintain with some fantastic early residences. Good Persian food in London is a rare thing, however, so it's likely at least to be building some hype. Rumours of a Ghanaian residency in April abound...
