Mark Hix has invited a series of names from the worlds of food, entertainment and the arts to join him in the kitchen to cook intimate dinners for 12 guests.

Names joining Mark in the kitchen in 2017 include Cinnamon Kitchen's Vivek Singh, Romy Gill, Financial Times columnist Tim Hayward, Jose Pizarro and Angela Hartnett and creator of Tonnix Wine, Mitch Tonks.

Tickets are priced between £125 and £175 per head for the evenings, for the chance to join Mark at a private tabletop in the Tramshed restaurant, Shoreditch. In the past the dinners have been described as more of a dinner party than restaurant event, and the various chef guests will cook exclusive dishes inspired by their own restaurants, or food experiences.

Cocktails and wines will be expertly matched by Mark's Hix brand manager Dustin MacMillan. The dates for Mark's series of intimate, once-monthly dinners are:

Mitch Tonks: Monday 27 March

Vivek Singh: Wednesday 3 May

Romy Gill: Wednesday 14 June

Tim Hayward: Thursday 6 July

Angela Hartnett: September (date TBC)

Jose Pizarro: Thursday 10 October

One-off caviar dinner: Wednesday 8 November

  • Oklava

The intention at Oklava is to draw perceptions of Turkish food away from the typical kebab shop and on to the seriously cuisine-minded restaurant scene, and it succeeds spectacularly. Take a look at their selection of pides (essentially Turkish pizza) -- they're to die for.

  • Radio Alice, Hoxton Square

Radio Alice serves the best sourdough pizza we’ve ever tasted. They foreground a traditional cooking practice from Bologna, which sees the base cooked first, crispy on the outside and doughy but light, with the majority of the toppings added afterwards. The result is simply divine.
