Far from providing just clothing, the fashion world has become something of an entertainment industry of its own: catwalk shows are theatrical spectacles, designer appointments make headlines and the industry has its fair share of personalities that cross the border into celebrity.

Nobody yet knows how the Corona virus will impact the design, production and retailing of fashion, but as shops shut in response to Government guidance on social distancing it's time to venture elsewhere in search of a lighthearted fashion fix.

Instagram is of course an immediate go-to, while Drest is a perfect distraction when you need to take a break, but if you want to break free from your smartphone there are a couple of charming Brits eager to help.

Hosted by Queer Eye's Tan France and model/designer/all-round-IT-girl Alexa Chung is Next in Fashion, an unscripted, 10 part fashion competition series available to stream on Netflix now.

The series follows in the footsteps of shows such as Project Runway and shows 18 aspiring fashion designers partake in a number of challenges and activities judged by France and Chung. The charming and upbeat presenters are assisted by a host of sparkling guest judges, including stylist-to-the-stars Elizabeth Stewart and Instagram’s fashion-weapon Eva Chen.

This isn't the competitors' first foray into fashion, as all have established connections and history in the industry - whether it be styling celebrities or working with major brands. The winner will be awarded $250,000 to put towards their own fashion career, and are in with a chance of collaborating with luxury fashion retail giant Net-A-Porter.
