Luc Tuymans, René Daniels & Andrzej Wróblewski: three iconic European painters take the stage in an intimate new show at the Drawing Room

This summer, head south of the river to see some of the finest contemporary artists at play in a small exhibition at the Drawing Room. Post-war Polish artist Andrzej Wróblewski, cult Dutch painter René Daniels and the acclaimed Belgian artist Luc Tuymans, who was recently prosecuted for plagiarism earlier this year, are all on display in DE. FI. CIEN. CY.
Who are the artists?
Visually thrilling, René Daniels was best known in the 1980s for his raucous oil paintings and suffered a crippling brain aneurysm which still affects him today. In contrast Andrzej Wróblewski was a crucially important Polish painter who died at just 29 years old in 1957 in a mountaineering accident. And of course Luc Tuymans is one of the most important painters working today, largely praised for his revival of the medium in the 1990s.
Drawing Room, London exhibition
This drawing show focuses on the failures of pictorial representation, and the deficiencies of art, which these famous artists have transformed into a form of artistic achievement. There are over 60 works on paper to take in as well as a site-specific work made by Luc Tuymans especially for the Drawing Room Galleries.
Rarely seen as a group, these artists make for striking bedfellows in this Drawing Room exhibition, and give us an opportunity to see their work away from the blue-chip galleries.
