Secret 7” Somerset House exhibition 2015
Fans of old-school vinyl will love this new show at Somerset House where legendary tracks by the greatest living rock and Motown musicians, British electronic pioneers and contemporary artists are being printed with one-of-a-kind sleeves.
The Secret 7” project 2015 finds a new home at Somerset House this year and is raising money for Nordoff Robbins, a charity that works to transform the lives of vulnerable people through music therapy.
How does it work?
The idea is simple: one iconic track is chosen from seven music legends and each one is printed 100 times on vinyl. 700 artists are then selected to create a completely unique sleeve for each individual vinyl. Look out for original sleeve designs by Sir Peter Blake, Yoko Ono, Julian Opie, Martin Parr and Sam Taylor-Johnson. This year's tracks include the gritty sounds of The Rolling Stones and dulcet tones of Diana Ross & The Supremes.
How do I buy a record?
You’ll be able to take a look at the one-of-a-kind collection in this quirky exhibition in London and then take your pick at the sale on Monday 4 May for just £50. Of course, the fun part is that you won’t know which record you are buying or the artist that has designed the sleeve before you part with your cash!
If you are looking for interesting things to do in London in 2015 for music lovers, this exhibition will be a lot of fun.
