Sigmar Polke: Early Works on Paper, Michael Werner

If you loved the Tate Modern Sigmar Polke show, there’s a second chance to see early works on paper at the Michael Werner Sigmar Polke exhibition

SIGMAR POLKE Early Works on Paper 6 February through 11 April 2015 MAYFAIR, LONDON
Featuring almost 100 works on paper, many of which have not been exhibited before, this London art show provides a comprehensive look at German artist Sigmar Polke’s early career.
You might recognise the name from his recent sell-out exhibition at Tate Modern as part of London’s German Renaissance in 2014 (the year of the Anselm Keifer Royal Academy exhibition and the Gerhard Richter, Marian Goodman show).
Sigmar Polke biography
Polke is best known for his trademark experimentalism and the humorous scepticism with which he navigated Germany’s recent history and near future.
Take a closer look at Michael Werner Gallery, UK at some of the sketches and studies which formed the foundation of the best known Sigmar Polke paintings and sculptures. You’ll recognise repeating motifs as Polke’s conceptual processes begin to take shape.
If you didn’t catch the Sigmar Polke Tate Modern retrospective, one of the best art shows in London this year, or just want more - this Michael Werner exhibition provides a timely second helping of this post-war artist.
